Argentina Dove Hunting Trips

More than 30 years ago a now well-known and reputable Argentina Dove Hunting outfitter was coming back from a trip through a northern portion of Argentina.  Back then, he was only a fishing guide, and the reason for the trip was that he was humoring a request of one of his clients for a tour that started in Patagonia in the province of Neuquen and continued all the way north to the provinces of Salta and Jujuy.

It took the two men several weeks to visit all the wonders of this very large region. The scenery on an Argentina dove hunting trip is amazing, full of wide and fertile valleys, gigantic mountains with an imposing presence, vast deserts and spectacular canyons, all unveiled right before their very eyes but also the traces of pre-Columbine civilizations like the Quilmes and Diaguitas, direct descendants of the Incas in Peru and not to forget the cities and towns in Argentina that hold sings of the first Europeans to settle in the area—which was more than 400 years ago!

While they were driving back from that trip that they continued through the Mediterranean province of Cordoba, which along with Buenos Aires and Santa Fe provinces, form the famous Pampa Humeda—the most fertile, rich and productive land in the country, producing of the 80% of the country grain and a 65% of the beef that is exported throughout the world. The client, a well-traveled gentleman, was not only an experienced angler but also a hunter.  Therefore, he could not pass by without making a comment about the area they were driving through that evening… Something had caught his trained eyes, and he said to the outfitter who was at the wheel – “You know, this is strange, but I think there’s a whole lot of dove here man!”  “I have been in the Cauca Valley in Colombia and this seems just like that!” That was the beginning…that was the comment that started the famous Argentina dove hunting.

Hunting Trips

Next the dove hunting outfitter organized a scouting team and discovered that it was indeed true!  This zone was as good, if not better than Colombia. Soon afterward, he started to take hunters for high volume dove hunting trips in Cordoba and the legend began. The years and the hunters passed, and today there is no doubt that Cordoba is the dove hunting capital of the world.

Cordoba has been come to be known also as dove hunting paradise, Eden, and The Nightmare of hunters from all over the globe. They dream of the piles of empty shells spread around them, they picture themselves positioned in those hills next to the shade of the thorny trees so common there or in the corn fields where clouds and clouds of doves surround them making it difficult to pick a target.  The comes the nightmare…they have to go home!
